10 Days to Faster Reading !

Summary of 10 Days to Faster Reading: Reading fast is a professional and personal asset, it is possible to improve your reading speed significantly by using various techniques and methods, like the use of guides (cards, fingers, pens…) or skimming, scanning and skipping … and plenty of others.

10 days to read faster is the first book of my personal challenge! I never though in my life that i would read such amazing book and if not because of you my readers. I understand that this could have been first of the list for college as this it is supposed to significantly increase our reading speed.

Reading faster is a must have knowledge during the school years

But do you know your reading speed? Here is a very interesting test by the Wall Street Journal that not only measure your reading speed, but also your comprehension : click here to assess your reading speed.

10 days to read faster has already made me realize that everyone reads at a different speed.

And even after school, there are so many situations – outside of books – where being able to read quickly and take the essentials is an asset: if you need to read a report, or a newspaper, or documents, or brochures, or anything else for work or for personal use.

The 10 Days to Faster Reading book is therefore supposed to increase your reading speed. It is divided into 10 chapters, designed to be read in as many days, all built around a comparison with driving a race car.

The techniques proposed:

Challenging preconceptions and conceptions that were valid when you were learning to read, but which are wrong now, such as the obligation to read every word, the prohibition to use your fingers or anything else to guide yourself, etc. This is the main purpose of Chapter 1.

Each chapter teaches a new technique. The idea is to guide the eyes with something. It can be fingers, a business card, a piece of paper, etc. This allows you to force your eyes to go where you want to go and at the speed you want.

Just ask yourself “what do I want from this book? What do I expect to find in it? What am I going to do with this new knowledge?” already makes it easier to select and retain the essential.

Adapting to what you read and its content: no two people read a novel, a newspaper or a technical manual in the same way.

Techniques to determine what not to read: skimming, scanning, and omissions.

Each chapter provides a text to determine your reading speed and comprehension rate. This will allow you to follow your progress.

Highlights:

Makes people aware of the difference in reading speed between people.
Makes people clearly aware of the importance of being able to read faster and well (with a good comprehension rate).
Provides many techniques for speed reading: Everyone should be able to find some that suit them and work well with them.
A test at each chapter to measure your progress in speed reading.

Weaknesses : Repetitive and this book not enough to become better
